our story

how we met

Serendipitously, we met at the intersection of Mass. Ave. and Boylston Street in Boston, in September of 2011. Our connection was instant. During our first date, we shared our love of running, drawing, and international travel. Since meeting, we have each run a few marathons and have experienced some incredible places, such as London, Crete, and Amsterdam. Despite their allure, we couldn't be happier to meet as husband and wife in Boston!

the proposal

In January of 2015, we were headed to the Bahamas for a long-awaited vacation. We had been there previously and had tried to swim with dolphins (Melanie's favorite animal), but didn't end up going due to a bus driver's untimely schedule. Melanie was really looking forward to the experience this time around and Bill was well prepared. He planned the perfect day of swimming with dolphins, enjoying tropical drinks as the coconut palms swayed, and ended the evening with a sunset beach proposal followed by a candlelight dinner.

We're getting married in a short time!

the wedding party

Amy Leard

Maid of Honor

Melanie's amazing and incredibly talented sister, Amy, will be the Maid of Honor. Although she won't admit it, she is a musical prodigy on the piano. Boston University's newest and best addition, Amy will be starting school in the Fall so we figured we should kick off her Boston experience with the city's biggest event (So exclusive you won't even see Tom Brady there).

Matt Nugent

Best Man

Bill's close friend, Matt, will be the Best Man. He's a talented architect, beer aficionado, and awful Madden player (Going for it on 4th and 30? Really?) with a great sense of humor. Matt's heavily involved in the re-shaping of Kansas City, but we're thrilled he and his wife, Rachel, could take time to visit us and his home away from home.

the food

We were floored by how good the food at Hampshire House was and we think you will be too. After some culinary soul-searching we finally narrowed the entrées down to these final four mouth-watering dishes:

stuff to do in boston

museum of fine arts, boston

465 Huntington Ave, Boston, MA 02115

Our favorite place to escape and enjoy a world-renowned art collection. While in Boston, be sure to check out the museum, especially our favorite wing, Art of Europe, that boasts the largest collection of Monets outside of France. mfa.org

isabella stewart gardner museum

25 Evans Way, Boston, MA 02115

Despite an infamous heist that was linked to Boston gangster, James "Whitey" Bulger, the Gardner Museum still houses an incredible art collection. It's hard to believe it was all amassed by a collector at a formerly private residence. This is one of Boston's most romantic gems, and gets our vote for best place to spend a rainy day. gardnermuseum.org

new england aquarium

1 Central Wharf, Boston, MA 02110

If you're sticking around for the weekend, the Aquarium is a great place to explore. Be sure to check out the seals out front and the penguins inside! And if you have time, we highly recommend catching a whale watch that departs right outside - we love it!. neaq.org

boston common & public gardens

139 Tremont St, Boston, MA 02116, United States

Boston's oasis in the middle of the city bustle, enjoy a break in the grass on the Common or take a stroll through the adjoining Public Gardens, taking in the flowers and the Frog Pond. You can even take a ride in one of the world-famous swan boats. All of this is easy to get to right outside the Hampshire House! friendsofthepublicgarden.org
